DishHome Nepal Review
After using Dish Home Nepal services for several months, i have today decided to write an in-depth review about Dish Home services and its customer support.
I subscribed to dishhome back in May 2014 after purchasing my led tv thought it would be a better choice to watch television the "international way" as quoted by DishHome.
I went to the local electrical store near my home and inquired about the charges to install it.
The guy in the electrical store told me that DishHome has 2 installation options.
INSTALLATION
1. Antenna(parabolic) with Setup box for recording. They call it Smartbox.
The Smartbox would cost Rs.5999 which is Obviously Rs.6000 as they wouldn't return back Rs.1 change . This also part of international marketing in nepal these days selling grains of rice to apartments with .99 at the end of the price tag.
2. Antenna (parabolic) with setup box only. No recording
This option would cost Rs. 3999 which is Rs.4000.
3. Installation charge Rs.500 for the antenna and tuning to dishhome satellite.
I decided to go for option 1 that is Smartbox with recording setup box costing me Rs. 6000.
The whole setup would cost me now Rs. 6500 after installation .
They sent me a guy along to do the fitting and stuff for the antenna.
The installation would take another 1 hour because it was raining bit so we had to wait for the signal to clear.
During this waiting i asked the installation guy - why , is there problem with rain? He said no, sometimes it disturbs lil bit but occasionally this will not happen.
So the guy left that day coz it was getting dark and his portable tv had problems with power adaptor to power up ,promised to come back the next day.
I waited for the next day and he showed up with power adapter for his portable tv which needs to be hooked up near the parabolic antenna in our top balcony.
After some alignments he did he locked up the screws behind the antenna and that was it. He came down to my room and scanned the channel as easy as 123 and dishhome was ready to watch.
But it was only showing 1 channel at the start. The channel was DMN, dish media network - i think that's the name of the channel.
They guy then rang the customer support and asked them to open the channel. The customer support rep told the guy to punch some codes in the remote control to open access to all channels. And right after few seconds we had access to all the channels that we had subscribed.
Now we had full channels showing very clearly in my new led tv. I was glad at that moment and thought this is really an "international tarika to watch tv" as quoted by dishhome.
So after few days i read in the newspaper that DishHome was soon bringing HD channels in Nepal. I was more excited to know about it.
Waited a week and then the channels refreshed while turning on the srtup box and we had 6 channels in the HD list.
The channels were:
1. TEN SPORTS HD
2. SONY SPORTS HD
3. HBO HD
4. COLORS HD
5. DISCOVERY HDWORLD
6. MTUNES HD
After watching HD channels for couple of days dishhome printed a new price list for previous subscription and increased the prices to almost double.
The plan i had subscribed was available for Rs.400 , this was now gone upto Rs.700 with the addition of 6 HD channels.
